J. Dale Molander

J. Dale Molander passed away on September 3, 2021. Dale was born in Rockford, Illinois, on April 6, 1935. After high school he received a Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree in Business Administration from Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois.  He was employed by Sundstrand Aviation and Microswitch (a division of Honeywell) before obtaining a PhD in Business Administration from the University of Washington.  Over the course of his 34-year career in academia, Dale taught at the University of Wisconsin - Oshkosh, and was Dean of the Schools of Business at Coastal Carolina University in Myrtle Beach, SC, and Lander University in Greenwood, SC.  

After retiring, Dale and his wife, Sandy, moved to Malakoff, TX where they lived for 14 years.  Dale was active in Rotary International for over 35 years and served as President of both the Greenwood, SC, and Cedar Creek Lake, Texas,  Rotary clubs. While he was in Texas in addition to Rotary, he served as president of the Cedar Creek Library Board, and the Bridgepoint HOA.  He was also on the Malakoff School District’s Foundation Board.  Dale enjoyed golf, tennis, boating, travel, and playing bridge (especially in his later years).  Dale and Sandy visited more than 40 foreign countries and most of the 50 United States, including Alaska and Hawaii.

Dale is survived by his wife of 60 years, Sandy; his children, Belinda Henschel (Pete) of Dallas, Texas; Jon E. (Lori) and Paul D. both of Atlanta; his grandchildren, Adam, Jay and Thomas Molander and Erin and Emily Henschel; and sister, Marilyn Morris of Dallas, TX.

At Dale’s request, there will be no funeral service.  Dale wanted a Celebration of Life party instead, which will be planned for the family.
