Jackson C. Newell, age 89, died Thursday, October 3, 2024 at Kennestone Hospital in Marietta, GA.
Born in Charlotte, NC, Jack was a son of the late J.C. and Mary Newell. He was formerly employed with Bank of America. He was a member of Flint Hill Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon, church pianist, and Sunday School leader. He was a veteran of the North Carolina Air National Guard.
Surviving are two sons, Evans Newell (Cynthia) of Kennesaw, Georgia and Ragan Newell Sr. (Melissa) of Greensboro, North Carolina; two brothers, John Newell (Linda) of Edmunds Township, Maine and Doug Newell (Lawana) of Enid, Oklahoma; five grandchildren, Ashleigh Wojslawowicz (Matt), John Newell (Mary), Ragan Newell, Jr. (Kylene), Jessica Cromer (Kevin), and Elizabeth Newell; four great-grandchildren, Finnleigh, Jackson, Riley, and Ella. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 49 years, Shirley Newell, and a brother, Rev. Roger Newell.
A celebration of life will be held at Flint Hill Baptist Church, Fort Mill, SC, at 2:00pm on Tuesday, October 8, 2024, with the Rev. Andrew Newell and Dr. Evans Newell officiating. The family will receive friends at the church an hour before the service. Burial will be at the Flint Hill Baptist Church Cemetery immediately following the service.
