James “Jim” Lee Caswell

December 15, 1940 to September 11, 2023

James Lee Caswell, 82, passed away peacefully Monday, September 11, 2023, in Acworth, Georgia. Jim was born on December 15, 1940, in Joliet, Illinois. He graduated from Joliet Township High School in 1958. On August 31st, 1963, he married Patricia Jeanne Crase. After earning a bachelor’s degree from Lewis University, Jim went to work at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Joliet as an administrator. He continued working in healthcare management until he retired as Vice President of Human Resources from Regency Hospital Corporation for whom he staffed and opened more than 10 hospitals. Jim was an avid sports fan. He loved watching and attending sporting events, especially if it involved Notre Dame, the Chicago Cubs, the Chicago Bears, the Atlanta Braves, and the University of Alabama. He also enjoyed reading, music, traveling, and collecting memorabilia. 

Jim is preceded in death by his parents, Henry Caswell and Lorraine Caswell (Kintz), his wife, Patricia Caswell (Crase), and his youngest daughter, Christine Ray (Caswell). Left to cherish his memory are his brother, Jay Caswell (Cindy), his children, Thomas Caswell of New York, Kathleen Woodard (Caswell) (Tim) of Tennessee, Cynthia Dozier (Caswell) (Zack) of Georgia, James Caswell (Jeff) of Georgia, 9 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. 

Visitation is offered Thursday, September 14, 2023, at Georgia Funeral Care from 6PM to 8PM (4671 S. Main St. Acworth, Georgia 30101). A funeral mass will be held Friday, September 15, 2023, at St. Catherine of Sienna Roman Catholic Church at 11AM (1618 Ben King Rd. NW Kennesaw, Georgia 30144) with graveside service immediately following the mass at Liberty Hill Cemetery (Cemetery Rd. Acworth, GA 30101). The family’s preferred florist is Flowers West located at 3329 Cobb Parkway, Suite 400, Acworth, Georgia 30101 (770) 966-1255.
