Joann was married to William Mallory on January 21, 1977 and were midway through their 42nd year of a wonderful union together.
Joann graduated from Indiana High School, Indiana, Pa. and attended Indiana University of Pennsylvania. She worked for Fisher Scientific for 28 years as an Administrative Assistant (and was a licensed Notary Public) until the company relocated to Wisconsin. She then worked in the Media Services Department of IUP until she retired in 2005. It was during the time she worked for the University that she completed two years of college courses. She was a member of the BPW (Business and Professional Women's Club) for many years and was elected to a number of local and district offices. She volunteered with several community organizations, including the Salvation Army, the American Red Cross and 'Daffodil Days'.
Along with her husband, Joann was instrumental in forming the Indiana Ballroom Dance Club in December, 1989 and were active members until they moved to Georgia in 2010 to be nearer her daughter, son-in-law and grandchildren.
Joann's interest/activities in her earlier years were dancing, hiking, sailing, canoeing, tent camping and tennis. In her later years, especially after relocating to Georgia, she enjoyed traveling with her husband on cruises, to resorts all across the country and on many, many day trips arranged by local Senior Centers. And, with those same Senior Centers, several extended, cross country motor coach trips. Joann especially looked forward to traveling with her children and grandchildren every year.
It should be said that Joann was also 'mother' to two beautiful, loving Irish Setters, Bonnie and Shannon, who adored her.
