Larry Camp

February 26, 1939 - November 2, 2024

Larry Eugene Camp, 85, passed away peacefully on Saturday morning, November 2, 2024, at his home in Carrollton, GA. He was born on February 26, 1939, in Villa Rica, GA. Larry joined the U.S. Navy on July 31, 1956, serving until January 14, 1960. Stationed on the West Coast, he served on the USS Lexington, assigned to Fleet Aircraft Service Squadron 117, and completed several Far East cruises. After an honorable discharge, he returned to Villa Rica and married Brenda Carnes, also of Villa Rica. They had two sons, Mark and Barry.

Larry worked locally before starting a distinguished career with the Coca-Cola Company, rising to the position of Director of Traffic and Transportation/Fleet Operations and later serving as Vice President of Coca-Cola of Michigan and Ohio. In the early 1980s, he left Coca-Cola to establish his own trucking company and later founded several construction businesses, including Ceramic Tile Connection in Carrollton, GA. After retirement, he worked as a bailiff for Carroll County until the courts closed in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Larry is preceded in death by his parents, Reverend James Herschel Camp and Dallas "Dolly" Viola Kirby-Camp; two brothers, Leonard Camp (Essie) of Dalton and Thomas Camp (Jean) of Villa Rica; his sister, Carrie Nell-Camp Lee (Jack) of Atlanta; one sister-in-law, Malinda Hembree Camp of Villa Rica; one brother-in-law, Wallace Busby of Conyers; and two nephews, John Camp and Kevin Camp, both of Villa Rica.

He is survived by his brother, Lemuel Camp, and sister, Allie Camp-Busby, both of Villa Rica. He is also survived by his wife of 27 years, Onealia Fincher-Camp, and children: Lance Cantrell (Abby), Craig Cantrell, and Drew Cantrell, all of the West Palm Beach, Florida area; Mark Camp (Lonnell) and Barry Camp (Danette) of Villa Rica, GA; Tisha DeVault of Villa Rica, GA; and Tanya Cohran of Douglasville, GA. He leaves behind 11 grandchildren, one great-grandchild, and many nieces and nephews.

Larry was a man of strong Christian faith and was an active member of Journey Fellowship Baptist Church in Bremen, GA. He was dedicated to missions, outreach, prayer, and Life Group activities.

In accordance with Larry's wishes, he will be cremated and interred at the Georgia National Military Cemetery in Canton, GA, at a later date.

  • Visitation: 1:00 p.m. - 2:00 p.m.
  • Service: 2:00 p.m.
