Leonida A. Hodgson, age 79, passed away peacefully on October 6, 2020, due to pancreatic cancer. Leonida was born on July 16, 1941, in Darat de Pinili, Philippines, to Domingo and Placida Abitong. She was a resident of Vero Beach, Florida, for 42 years. She was a waitress for 22 years at Lobster Shanty and owner of Nida's Cafe. She loved dancing, singing karaoke, and bingo. She was a dedicated mother with a radiant smile who loved spending time with her family and friends.
She is preceded in death by her sister, Carolyn Abitong; son, Richard Sabellona, Jr.; daughter, Rosalene Young.
Survivors include her life partner, Bob Pacelli of Stuart, Florida, who she shared her love with for many years; daughter, Charmaine Vernon (spouse, Ralph Vernon) of Adairsville, Georgia; daughter, Priscilla Baker of Vero Beach, Florida; 3 brothers, Cesar Abitong of Hilo, Hawaii; Melecio Taylan of Ilocos Sur Province, Philippines; William Abitong of Florida; 1 step-sister, Pat Arima of Hilo, Hawaii; 1 step-brother, Anthony Navarro of Hilo, Hawaii; 12 grandchildren, 1 step-grandchild, 1 great-grandchild, many aunts, uncles, cousins, neices, nephews, and many, many friends.
A memorial will be held in Vero Beach, Florida. Date to be determined.
