Linda L. Osterman, age 75, of Canton, GA, passed away on June 24th, 2018. She leaves behind her husband of 58 years, Stephen, children Stephen and his wife Marissa, Desirie and her husband Edwin Teague, and Cress. Along with 4 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren and another on the way. Linda and Steve spent most of their early years together raising their three children in Michigan. Before taking their youngest daughter and moving to Boulder City, Nevada for several years.
While in Boulder City they ran the Star View Motel. They really enjoyed running it and meeting new people every day. But Steve missed the “real” trees and they moved to Jasper, Georgia, where Steve built them another new home. They spent most of their time helping to raise their first granddaughter, Jennifer. Some of Linda’s fondest memories were the birthday parties she put together for Jennifer and her friends – from a homemade pizza party to a 50’s party. They both also took Jennifer to her many photo shoots as she aspired to be a model. They took a memorable cross country trip with their grand kids, Kayla and Klay, and always talked about what an adventure it was and brought them all closer. Linda always relied on her grandson, Brandon to save her when she messed up her computer or her tablet.
They spent the next 18 years in a travel trailer up on the “mountain” in Fairmount, GA next to their dear friend, Dick Brown. Steve would spend his days helping Dick in his garage or working on friends’ homes. While Linda would juggle holding “JR” (special Chihuahua), playing Nintendo, cooking and crafting! Poor “JR” was a real trooper he was dropped so many times while she tried to get to the next level in Nintendo. Then came along Riley (the first great granddaughter), and they got to teach her all about cooking, planting flowers, making crafts, and swimming. Linda still liked to tell everyone about the time Riley jumped in the pool into Grandpa’s arms and knocked them both over and under the water – then she climbed out of the pool and wanted to do it again!
In December 2016, Steven, Linda, and Cress, moved in with Jennifer and her husband, Brandon, and now their two children, Riley and Logan. Steve had started working on building a basement apartment for them the previous year. Linda woke up every day looking forward to spending time with Riley and Logan. Riley and Logan tried to start their day coming down to see what GG was doing or going to do. Logan learned that GG’s tomato soup was the best in all the land! Riley hated sharing GG with Logan! GG loved the opportunity to tell Jennifer, and sometimes Brandon, everything they should and shouldn’t be doing.
Linda was looking forward to spending more time with her daughter and son-in-law as they were in the process of moving into the neighborhood. She loved to tell Edwin that he was her favorite son-in-law. While she got to spend lots of time with Riley and Logan, she always looked forward to visits from her other great grandchildren, Colton, Camden, and Kinsley. She was looking forward to meeting baby, Cooper in August.
Anyone that had a chance to meet Linda, knew her wit and sarcastic sense of humor. Like having her big toes painted with a smiley face to having her hair streaked with pink dye. She would bring smiles to people faces and then she would remember why they were smiling at her.
