Louise Medlin Turner

Louise Medlin Turner died peacefully on March 29, 2020 in Palm City, Florida at the age of 99.Louise was born on March 20, 1921 in Talking Rock, Georgia, and grew up in the nearby town of Fairmount. She loved basketball and played at Fairmount High School and at Reinhardt College where she met her future husband John Thomas Turner. After graduating, she taught Elementary School in Fairmount. She married John in 1950. While living and working in Atlanta they started their family, having two children, John and Linda. They moved to Perry, Georgia in 1959 when John took a position at Robins Air Force Base.

Louise was a dedicated member of the Perry United Methodist Church and was active in the Sorelle Club. She enjoyed golf and was a member of the Ladies Golf Association at Perry Country Club. She and John also enjoyed playing bridge with other Perry couples. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her many good friends and her family, especially her four grandsons. After 49 years in Perry, John and Louise moved to Palm City, Florida in 2008 where they enjoyed many more happy years and celebrated 67 years of marriage. Louise was preceded in death by her mother, Effie Darnell Medlin; her father, Herbert R. Medlin; her sister Kathleen Seagraves; and her beloved husband, John, who passed away in October, 2017. She is survived by daughter Linda Turner Hughes (Randy), son John Thomas Turner, Jr. (Belinda), grandsons Jason Hughes (Hilary), Brandon Hughes (Michele), John A. Turner (Marian), Jeffrey Turner (fiancé Heather), and great granddaughter Abigail Hughes, as well as numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.

She will be interred at Mountain View Park Cemetery in Marietta Georgia next to her husband John. Due to current restrictions ad safety considerations, no memorial service is planned at this time.
