Lucinda “Cindy” Kay (Helstrom) Paulson

On Saturday, May 16, 2020, Lucinda “Cindy” Kay (Helstrom) Paulson - fiery, feisty, loving, and endlessly talented wife and mother of two passed away at the age of 75.

Cindy was born on September 28, 1944 in Oshkosh, WI, to Clifford & Lorraine (Jensen) Helstrom. Unwilling to abide by society’s (and old-school parental) precepts, she and Frederick “Rick” Paulson eloped in North Carolina on September 8, 1964 … literally minutes before the judge closed up shop for the day… and were married for more than 55 years! They raised two (amazing and wildly attractive) children – Mark & Beth… and several birds, cats, and dogs.

Cindy was self-taught and astonishingly skilled in quilting, jewelry making, sewing, crocheting, drawing, needle work, sculpting, and writing. She didn’t love the knitting, though. She was a member and past president of the Bullock Hall Quilt Guild in Roswell, GA. It is unknown what year(s) she was president of the guild, but it’s irrelevant because the guild was likely never as glorious as it was when she was the president.

Cindy’s greatest achievement (in her daughter’s opinion) was her influence and help in raising her granddaughter, Noelle. The bond between Cindy and Noelle is timeless and completely unaffected by petty, Earthly constraints. Her time on Earth has ended, but her love for Noelle will go on (like the song from The Titanic… you’re singing the song in your head, now, aren’t you?).

Cindy is survived by her husband, Rick; her 2 children, Mark (Barbara) & Beth (Matthew); her brother, Paul (Marla); Sister-in-law & Brother-in-law (Diane & Rudy); 3 grandchildren – Noelle, Jamie, and Bryan; 5 great grandchildren (number 6 is on the way), and 2 grand-puppies (Yogi & Bear).

Cindy’s life mantra: “I do what I want.”
