Luis David Barragan Alvarado, 60, born in Ecuador and raised in Hackensack, New Jersey from early childhood through late adulthood.

He moved to Covington, Georgia to enjoy his retirement in warm weather with his wife and two youngest daughters.

He passed away on Wednesday, December 23rd 2020.

Luis David Barragan, transitioned two days after the darkest day of the year, and one day before Latinx Christmas (aka Xmas Eve), his favorite holiday.

He is survived by his wife Maria of 40 years, and daughters: Karina, Yisela, Yesenia, and Vanessa.=

"Our father never held back his attitude, and it was somewhat of a superpower. He didn’t care what people thought about him, or how he spoke, or how other people felt as long as he was providing for his family. He had that working-class immigrant swag. That is what we will always adore him for, and that will always be the kind of spirit he continues to provide in all of us.

He was an entrepreneur and the way he made things happen was unreal. He could transform dilapidated properties, backyards, and empty spaces into beautiful homes, eye catching works of art and lavish gardens, it was magical. He raised us four women to sheetrock walls, varnish door frames with gentle care, and plant tomatoes with the finest green thumb.

He will always be honored for his entrepreneurial spirit and always remembered for his ability to make magic from his calloused hands. He had a fierce pride for his hijas, so much so that he inflated our professional worth. He named us doctors and lawyers, without any clarification or explanation to anyone who would deem to listen. He reminded us of the value in our education, and the need to accomplish that first at all costs."

His burial will be held Tuesday, December 29th 2020 at Honey Creek Woodlands in Conyers GA.
