It is with great sadness the family of Madeline Walsh (nee Rosa) announce her passing on Thursday, August 24, 2023 at the age of 86.
Madeline was born and raised in Holbrook, NY and retired to Sebastian, FL in 1996. She is predeceased by her husband of 44 years, William Walsh (1999) and her son Michael (2020). She was also the proud mother of Maureen Tsokris (son in law Steven), Suzanne Elbert (son in law Donald) and Wendy Brady. Madeline was the loving grandmother of Emily, Savanna, Griffin, Joseph, and Amanda and the great grandmother of Marcus. Madeline is survived by her cherished partner C. Larry Sedgman, as well as Larry’s children Tim, Todd and Carrie.
Madeline served many years in the Holbrook Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary. She worked and retired from the Suffolk County Legislature as a Legislative Secretary. In retirement, Madeline was an active member of the Sebastian Florida Elks lodge #2714 and was proud to have been the first women to have served as an Exalted Ruler for lodge #2714. She served two terms as Exalted Ruler. As an Elk Madeline was involved in numerous programs including the Florida Elks Youth Camp, the Children’s Therapy Services Program, all of which were part of the Harry Anna Foundation. In addition, Madeline was passionate about the annual Toys for Tots program, the Back to School Supply Drive, the Student Scholarship program and the many celebrations hosted by the lodge to honor our veterans.
Madeline loved to travel and experienced many years of world travel with Larry and had many stories to share. Madeline moved to Dallas, GA in 2018 to be closer to family. A private memorial service will be held for the family.
