Marilyn Jean Luster, age 65, transitioned from this earthly life to her heavenly home, surrounded by family, on July 18, 2021. Marilyn was born on June 20, 1956, in Flint, Michigan, to Rosetta Newton Luster and Veo Fred Luster Sr. Marilyn was devoted to her family. She loved children and cherished the time she spent with her many nieces and nephews. Marilyn’s favorite pastime was reading, and she enjoyed books on a variety of topics.
Marilyn attended Flint Community Schools and graduated from Flint Central High School. She obtained a degree in respiratory therapy from Washtenaw Community College in Ann Arbor, Michigan; a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Miami in Coral Gables, Florida; and a pharmacy degree from Florida A&M University in Tallahassee, Florida. During her career, Marilyn worked as a respiratory therapist, pharmacist, and teacher.
To cherish her memory, Marilyn leaves her mother, Rosetta Luster; three sisters, Rose (Spencer) Turner, Joyce Harris, and Cheryl Smith-Wilson; two brothers, Veo F. Luster Jr. and Frederick E. Luster; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Marilyn was preceded in death by her father, Veo Fred Luster Sr.; sister, Lavern Crayton; brother, Kalso Bryant Luster; sisters-in-law, Gloria Burris-Luster and Karla Grant-Luster; and brothers-in-law, Eddie Crayton, Larry Banks-Harris, and George Wilson.
Marilyn, per her request, was cremated. A virtual memorial service will be held Saturday, July 31, 2021, at 1:00 p.m., and access information will be posted. The family requests that in place of flowers, donations be made in Marilyn’s name to the American Cancer Society.
