Mark Whitten

Mark Anthony Whitten passed away on January 31, 2023, at the age of 74. He died after a long battle of illness resulting from Agent Orange exposure in the military.

He is survived by his wife Sandi Whitten, daughters Amberly Keefer and Paige Whitten, son Brandon Whitten, step-son Sean Kramer and his grandchildren Alex and AvaDella Keefer, Noah Husk, and Savannah and Clay Kramer.

Mark was born to Bonnie and Alton Whitten in New Orleans, Louisiana on May 26, 1948. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters Debbie Whitten and Sharon Turner, and his brother Jan Whitten.

Mark was raised in Atlanta, Georgia with his three siblings, with whom he had a close relationship. Following graduation from Sylvan Hills High School, he had a career as a firefighter. Mark proudly served in the U.S. Air Force in 1967, advancing to First Class Staff Sergeant. Upon his return from Andersen Air Force base, he joined the Atlanta Police Department. Mark graduated from Georgia State University. He then went on to have a successful career as a car sales manager.

Mark was many things to different people, a devoted husband, loving father, and “Pop”, as well as a trusted friend. He was loved by many and he will be greatly missed. He loved traveling, listening to music, reading, and playing cards, and was an avid Football Fan of The Georgia Bulldogs. He was larger than life, loving to reminisce and tell stories.  Mark loved playing trains and cars with his grandson Noah.

Please join us in celebrating his life at the Georgia National Cemetery on March 10, 2023, at 3 pm at 1080 Scott Hudgens Drive Canton, Georgia 30114.
