Milton E. “Skip” Miller, Jr., age 74, of Conyers, GA, passed away May 15, 2018 after a long struggle with Parkinson’s Disease and complications from a traumatic brain injury. He was born in Harriman, TN, to the late Milton E. Miller and the late Wilma H. Miller. He was also preceded in death by his brother, James L. Miller.
Skip spent most of his life in Atlanta, GA. He graduated from Decatur High School. He earned his BS in Industrial Management from Georgia Tech, and his MBA from Georgia State University. He was a Captain in the US Air Force and served in Vietnam before becoming an investment banker and working in trusts and investments for several financial institutions over the course of his career. Skip was an avid golfer, a long-distance runner, a fisherman, and a big fan of college sports and Braves baseball. He also loved music, playing guitar, and singing. He had a wonderful sense of humor and enjoyed spending time with friends and family.
Skip is survived by his two children: Michael E. Miller of Omaha, NE, and Tracey Miller Tran of Greensboro, NC. He is also survived by his son-in-law, Brian Guehring; his grand-daughters, Lillian Tran and Samantha Tran; and his nephew, Joshua J. Miller of Tulsa, OK. A Celebration of Life will be held at Mystery Valley Golf Club on July 6, 2018 at 6PM. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made to the following charities: Hospice Atlanta(Visiting Nurse Health System/Hospice Atlanta), Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research, DAV (Disabled American Veterans) Charitable Service Trust, and the Sierra Club Foundation.
