Nancy Richards

Nancy Lorraine Marburger Richards, age 68 of Kennesaw, Georgia, passed away on Monday, September 13, 2021.

She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and daughter whose greatest source of pride and joy was her family.

Nancy was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on May 7, 1953. She was the oldest of four children. Nancy graduated from North Hills Passavant Hospital in Pittsburgh, Pa in 1972 with her LPN certification. After graduating, she cared for countless others as a 3rd shift nurse in Pennsylvania, Texas, and Florida for 16 years. Upon moving to Georgia, Mrs. Richards served as the Branch Manager for Portamedic for 18 years.

Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, George and Vivian Marburger, and her brother, George Marburger II.

She is survived by her husband of almost 49 years, Daniel Jay Richards. Dan and Nancy were high school sweethearts who married on September 16, 1972. To continue her legacy of love and care are her daughters Lorri (JT) Stivers, Courtney Richards, and her son, Ben (Amber) Richards. She is Nana to Mitchell and Will Stivers and Zach and Chris Richards. And Nancy is sister to Nanette (Jerry) Barnhart and Brenda Marburger of Butler, Pennsylvania. And we cannot forget her beloved companion who never left her side, Daisy Mae.

In addition to living a life of love and care, Nancy was an avid “Trekkie” who could recite every line of every Star Trek episode and movie. Her favorite line which she wove into conversation whenever she could was “resistance is futile.” Her children often heard that line when she wanted them to clean their rooms. She enjoyed traveling, fishing, crabbing, shelling, bird watching, crafting, cheering for her beloved Atlanta Braves, cooking the most amazing homemade spaghetti and meatballs anyone has ever tasted, and doting on her family and friends any way she could. One of her favorite songs was “You Are My Sunshine” and she sang that to her children and grandchildren as often and as loudly as she could.

The Richards Family is honoring Nancy’s wishes by holding a private gathering for immediate family in their home on Saturday, September 18, 2021.
