Orlando Francis Ferraro, Jr., a proud veteran of the United States Airforce, passed away peacefully in the early morning hours of August 14, 2024 in Woodstock, Georgia.
The son of Orlando (Babe) Ferraro Sr and Alice Claire Williams, Orlando (Butch or Butchie to those close to him) grew up in Greenwich, Connecticut. He was born December 9, 1947, in Greenwich, Connecticut.
In March of 1967 he enlisted in Air Force, then the Navy, Army and back to the Air Force once he retired from the Air Force he enlisted in the Air National Guard for another stint. Orlando highly valued this service to his country. His last active-duty assignment was with the 165th Airlift Wing at Hunter Army Airbase in Savannah, GA.
Orlando is survived by daughter, Dawn (Dave) Wilson, of Bowie Texas; son, Orlando (Carolyn) Ferraro III, of Kingwood, Texas; daughter, Miki (Kimball) Rice of Dallas, GA. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Cortney Wilson, Ethan Rice, Brandon Rice, Lucas Ferraro, Aiden Rice and Isabella Rice. As well as his two sisters, Linda Forlenzo and Pam Emma.
Orlando's loved ones will remember his lively and vivid storytelling, his sarcastic dry sense of humor, above all, he was never once without a witty, entertaining zinger of a comment always bubbling with humor. He told his life experiences passionately, he was a photographer at heart, who loved, nature, beautiful skies, flowers and captured in detail his many travels across the globe from Alaska, Azores, Korea, Egypt, Switzerland, Philippines, Italy, Spain and Thailand are a few of his favorite travels.
A service honoring the life of Orlando will be held at a future date.
