Rende Gene Clinton

Rende Gene Clinton died after a difficult battle with cancer at the VITAS Inpatient Hospice Unit in Stockbridge, GA on October 10 in at the age of 54. 

Rende is survived by his son, Chandler Means Clinton and Chandler’s mother, Cathy Houston Shinalll of Woodstock, Georgia; his mother Ralene Means Cerise (Mrs. Joseph Cerise) of Hammond, Louisiana; his father James Harmon Clinton (Susan Mott Clinton) of Alexandria, Louisiana; brothers Jeremy James Clinton of Asheville, NC, Ryan David Clinton (Sarah Bate Clinton) of Austin, TX, and Cooper Harmon Rhodes Clinton of Alexandria, LA; and numerous cousins, aunts and uncles. He is preceded in death by his grandparents Eugene and Vernette Means of Rothschild, Wisconsin and Harmon and Ione Clinton of Little Rock, Arkansas.

Rende was born on November 6, 1963 in Wausau, Wisconsin. He attended schools in Sheveport, Louisiana and graduated from Broadmoor High School in 1981. Following a career in the environmental business, he joined the US Navy.  XXXXX

Upon leaving the Navy, Rende settled in the Atlanta, Georgia area. He was a gifted and active entrepreneur and mechanic. He owned and worked in businesses as diverse as home improvements, commercial janitorial operations and restoring and selling cars and boats. He was a friend to anyone in need and was well-known for his inability to pass anyone with car trouble on the side of the road. He had a special affinity for Birch Lake in Northern Wisconsin, where he had many adventures as a child with his grandfather, Bud Means. He loved his entire family but was most devoted to his son Chandler Means Clinton, who gave his life center and purpose. 

A funeral is scheduled at 1 PM on Wednesday, October 17 at the Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, Georgia. Guests are asked to arrive no later than 12:30 PM to be escorted to the interment site. The United States Navy will officiate the service, which will include an Honor Guard.  All are welcome to attend and celebrate Rende Clinton’s life. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that those wishing to commemorate Rende’s life do so with a donation to either the American Cancer Society or to the local hospice of your choice. The family expresses its sincere thanks to the professionals at the Vitas Inpatient Unit for their devoted, caring and accomplished service during Rende’s most difficult and painful hours.
