Robert (Bob) August Haas, age 95, devoted husband to the late Lorraine (Lorry) Teresa (Agnew) Haas, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather passed away on Wednesday, August 21st, 2024 surrounded by family and loved ones. Born to August “Gus” and Elsie Haas on November 11th, 1928, Bob brightened all those around him with love, stories, and kindness. He graduated from East Hampton High School in 1946 and joined the United States Marine Corps, earning the GI Bill. He graduated from the University of Connecticut in 1952 with a Bachelor of Science followed by a successful career as a methods engineer with Stanley Tools and in sales with Townsend Textron Fastening Systems. Being a man of many talents, he built his own cabin cruiser and telescope and was an exceptional artist, painting beautiful seascapes and portraits. He was an accomplished golfer, scoring two holes-in-one within the same month, and loved spending time with family, reading his huge collection of books, European travels with his wife Lorry of 59 years, listening to music, bird watching, and inventing. He always had a smile, a kind word, and several interesting facts to brighten everyone's day. He is survived by his four children: Robert August Haas Jr., Karen Campbell Ingraham, Sheri Ellen Johnson (husband, Arlin), and Mark Agnew Haas; eight grandchildren: Lauren Campbell Senska, Andrew Johnson (wife Elizabeth), James (Jimmy) Campbell, McKenna Campbell, Robert (Robby) Johnson, Lora Haas, Daron Johnson, and Elise Johnson; and great-grandson Ronan Senska. In addition to his parents, Robert was preceded in death by his brother Wallace Haas and nephew Clifford Haas.
The funeral will be held at Holy Family Catholic Church in Marietta, Georgia on Friday, September 6 at 1:00 PM with a reception immediately following. In lieu of flowers, the family asks donations be made to Must Ministries.
