On Saturday, August 10, 2019, Robert “Bob” Konet, loving husband, father, and brother, passed away at home with his wife Johnna at his side, at the age of 64.
Born May 2, 1955 in Chicago, IL to Fred and Eleanor. He was the middle brother of a trio that spent a lifetime having fun and getting into trouble. He attended Richard Daly College and worked in transportation for 40 years, most of that time spent in and around Atlanta, GA. He met his wife of 30 years, Johnna, at a transportation networking dinner. She remembers thinking that he really had his stuff together. Bob and Johnna shared a loving devotion to their daughter Amy and their fur-babies Milo and Henry.
Among the many things we will miss, one of the most joyful ones is the way Bob would dance to the song “Shout” any time he got the chance at a wedding. Bob was an avid Scrabble player and had at least three long-distance games going at a time with his brother, daughter, and son-in-law. He enjoyed traveling, and despite what he initially told Johnna - he was a fan of Thai food and pedicures. Bob respected and was inspired by the dedication of members of the United States Armed Forces - he followed his father’s example of buying a veteran a cup of coffee whenever he saw one at a restaurant. As his family has lovingly looked over photos of Bob, we are grateful for the time we spent fishing, hiking, golfing, kayaking, celebrating, and enjoying an over-sized beer or margarita every now and then. Anyone who worked with Bob knew him to be hard-working, kind, gentle, calm, and organized - a true team player. He loved his dogs despite Milo’s penchant for jumping out of windows and escaping the yard and Henry’s voracious appetite for butane lighters. Bob was loved and will be missed by many. Lake Kegonsa in Stoughton, WI was a place that Bob created many precious memories, and if you ever have the chance to visit - please raise your glass to a great man.
Preceded in death by his father Fred, who was his hero and role model, and his mother Eleanor, both of whom he missed dearly. He is survived by his wife Johnna, daughter Amy (Jason), brothers Fred (Pat) and Ron (Mary Therese), mother-in-law Suzette Lodge, sisters-in-law Michelle (Oliver and Chessie), Suzan (Al), and Deborah (Norm), nieces Nicole (John), Kimberly (Andy), Renee (Greg, Whitney, Lindsey, Haley), and Beth (Dave, Anna, Ella, Max), nephews Brian (Aneta) and Patrick, Aunt Rita Ulanski, and many cousins.
Please join us for a celebration of Bob’s life this Saturday from 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm at Unity North Atlanta in the Peace Chapel, 4255 Sandy Plains Road, Marietta GA, 30060. We look forward to sharing memories about Bob and listening to his favorite music with all the people who loved him.
