Robert “Bob” Bowen Lowder, 90, passed away on January 31, 2022, in Kennesaw, GA after a long battle with Alzheimer’s. His wife of 66 years, Lou Lowder, was by his side and has been his faithful caregiver.
Born in Bluefield, WV, he was the middle of 7 children and is preceded in death by his parents and siblings. He is survived by his wife, Louise Johnson Lowder; daughters, Lorna Lowder Chastain (Chuck) and Leslie Lowder as well as his grandsons - Mitchell Chastain, Carter Chastain, and Jackson Chastain.
Bob was a Veteran and served in the Navy during the Korean War. He worked as a sales representative for McCormick Spice Company for 25 years and traveled to grocery stores throughout WV and VA. He did love to drive and kept the cleanest car of anyone. He always had great stories and made people laugh. He enjoyed meeting friends for coffee and going on beach trips with family and friends. He lived his life true to his beliefs and values. He served His Lord faithfully, he loved his family and friends fiercely and would give you anything he had to give – time, money, hard work, mow your grass, wash your car, or advice. He used to say that you make time for what’s important especially for the people in your life. He was instrumental in his community and loved this country. We cannot count the number of lives that he touched and influenced just with his kindness to others. His advice was to always do your best, do what’s right, and move forward.
Abiding by his wishes, a gathering service is not being held. In lieu of flowers, please consider doing something for your neighbor as one of his greatest joys was helping others or donating to your local Veterans charity.
