Ronald ‘Ronnie’ Dale O’Bert, age 70 of Acworth, unexpectedly passed away Saturday, July 20, 2024.
He is survived by his wife, Robin; daughters Melissa (Chris) and Joy (Alex); son Joseph (OV); and grandchildren Liam, Mason, Oliver and Chloe.
He was preceded in death by his mom and dad, Ruby and Joseph; his sister, Shirley; and his brother, Carl.
Ronnie was born April 15 in Aurora, Illinois, to Joe and Ruby O’Bert. After graduating from Oswego High School, Ronnie and his family relocated to Marietta, GA to be closer to family.
As a young adult, Ronnie started working at Kennestone Hospital (now Wellstar Healthcare) where he proudly worked for 51 years, before retiring just last month.
In 1979, Ronnie married his beloved wife, Robin and they soon started a family.
Ronnie was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather who loved his family immensely with his greatest role in life being Grandpa to his grandchildren. He made it a priority to be front and center at his grandbabies’ soccer and baseball games, theatre productions and cheerleading events. His memory will be forever held in the hearts of those that adored him.
An enthusiastic supporter of the Atlanta Braves and Georgia Bulldogs, Ronnie loved his Georgia sports teams, rarely missing a game. He was so excited when the Braves won the World Series in 2021 and watched in disbelief as his Bulldogs won consecutive national championships in 2021 and 2022. Go Dawgs!
Drop-in visitation will be held on Friday, July 26 from 5pm-8pm at Georgia Funeral Care, 4671 S. Main St, Acworth, GA 30101.
