Sandra Kendall Nicholson, 82, peacefully passed away, October 26, 2020, with family at her side.
Sandra was known for her love of history, literature, going on trips, shopping and entertaining but what she loved most of all was her family and friends. She took great joy in reminiscing with those she loved and gathering everyone together to visit or share a meal. Sandra was born in Albertville, AL, on May 2, 1938. She graduated from Albertville Highschool where she was involved in speech, May Day court, was a civilian and served in various leadership roles. She also enjoyed reading poetry on a local radio program. Sandra went on to study English at Jacksonville State University. She worked as an X-ray tech and was one of the original employees in the MIST department at UAB.
She is preceded in death by her mother Desa as well as her husband of 50 years, Jerry Nicholson. She is survived by her daughter Paige Nicholson; son Scott Nicholson; granddaughters Mallory Anderson (Tyler), Amelia Nicholson and Kendall Bell; great grandchildren Emma-Grace, Caleb, Henry and Laura Kate. Although she has gone on to be with her loving Savior she will be deeply missed and remembered fondly by those she is leaving behind.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Sandra’s memory to the American Cancer Society.
Our family would like to give a special thanks to Gaines Park for providing an excellent home and care to Sandra as well as WellStar Hospice for providing exceptional care over the last several months.
