Sandra Rae Bennett Prestridge, age 77, passed away Friday August 30, 2019 in Cartersville, Georgia surrounded by her daughters and son. She was born September 16, 1941 in Lakeland, Florida, the daughter of Paul R. Bennett and Hazel Allen Shumacher. She was a graduate of Lakeland High School.
A resident of the Huntsville, Alabama area for almost 50 years, Ms. Prestridge had lived with her daughter and son-in-law in Cartersville since February, 2017. She was known for her love of animals (and many of them), sense of humor, and was a dedicated Florida Gators fan. She was an avid reader, and thoroughly enjoyed telling stories of her life adventures and playing jokes on family and friends. She played darts, as well.
Her career included Publix Supermarkets in Lakeland; Kroger Stores and Doctors’ offices in the Huntsville area.
Ms. Prestridge is survived by daughter Deborah (Dee) Andrews and son-in-law Jim Andrews of Cartersville; daughter Terry Rae Tolleson and son-in-law James Tolleson of Madison, Alabama; son Robert D. Gaffin II and daughter-in-law Terri Gaffin of New Hope, Alabama; and daughter Robin Gaffin Rice and son-in-law Michael Rice of Athens, Alabama.
Her grandchildren include Sara Tolleson, Logan Tolleson, Julia Rudolph, Preston Rudolph, and step-grandchildren Ty Rainey and Emily Rainey.
A graveside service will be held at Auburndale Memorial Park, September 21 at 2:00 pm.
