On the morning of December 12th, 2018, Scot Connor McKelvey, 55, of Decatur, Georgia, passed on to the Lord Jesus after a 6-year battle with pancreatic cancer. Scot was born on March 30th, 1963, in Belleville, Illinois, the third son of the late Ralph Samuel and Betty (Conzelman) McKelvey.
Scot grew up in Belleville, Illinois, and Atlanta, Georgia, where he graduated from Druid Hills High School and continued to receive a Bachelor of Arts from the Terry College of Business at the University of Georgia. He met the love of his life, Kristie Hightower, and they married on May 2nd, 1987.
Scot was a pitcher for the University of Georgia Diamond Dogs. He was successful in the mortgage industry for over 25 years. This, among other things, he was a skilled carpenter, project manager supervisor, beloved football and baseball coach. Christian mentor of men and was honored to officiate one of their weddings. Spending time with his family was his greatest joy and sharing his love of Christ was his greatest passion. He would have loved the opportunity to share the Love, Joy, Peace, and Hope of Jesus Christ with his future grandchildren.
He will lovingly be remembered by his wife of 31 years, Kristie (Hightower) McKelvey his daughter, Jessica Winemiller, and her husband, Garrett, his son, Sam McKelvey and his wife, Allie, his sister, Jane, (Rick) Cochran, brother, Robert (Marty) McKelvey and 14 niece and nephews.
A CELEBRATION OF HIS LIFE will be held at The River Lodge at Martin's Landing on January 6th, 2019 from 1-4 pm. In lieu of flowers, please honor Scot by helping someone in need.
