Steen Torben Davids, a US Navy Veteran, loving father and grandfather, passed away at Emory St. Joseph’s Hospital in Atlanta, GA on April 14th, 2019. He was a resident of Marietta, Georgia for 30 years and loved his East Cobb neighborhood.
Steen was born in Copenhagen, Denmark to Lilli Gitta Bille Larsen, on August 25th, 1952. At the age of 5 he moved with his mother and new Stepfather, Capt. Julian T. Bollinger, USN, to Boston, MA. From there he moved to Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, Mare Island, CA and spent his teenage years attending Sam Ramon Valley High School in Danville, California before joining the US Navy in 1972. Following the Navy, he spent his entire career working for Hewlett Packard and moved from Silicon Valley to Georgia in 1993 before the big tech boom.
Steen enjoyed the simple things in life, a good beer, the San Francisco 49ers, Surround Sound, Tabasco, Pink Floyd, Dark Chocolate, Black Licorice, Ronald Reagan, and Scuba Diving. He was in love with the universe and spent many nights looking up at the stars through his multiple telescopes. Steen, or “Farf” is proclaimed the best “tickler” by his grandchildren and was an excellent cook who learned from his mother. He loved a juicy steak as well as concocting sauces made from ranch dressing and ate anything spicy enough to kill your taste buds. Most importantly, he was a kind and loving man who helped those he could.
He is survived by his Son, Erik (Kerry) Davids, grandchildren, Niklas and Mia, Sister, Kim (Dave) Bridges, Brother, Michael Bollinger, Sister in Law, Sonia Bollinger, nieces and nephews, Dean Bollinger, John (Tiffany) Bollinger, Nicole (Ed) Reginelli, Jason (Gaylyn) Bollinger, David Bridges III, Devon Bridges, and Julianna Bridges. His stubborn, yet warm and friendly demeanor will be missed by all.
Friends and family are invited to attend a Military funeral service at 12 PM on May 7th at the Georgia National Cemetery at 1080 Scott Hudgens Dr, Canton, GA 30114. A Celebration of life will be held in his honor at the home of Erik and Kerry Davids at 2 pm following the service. Food and drinks will be provided.
