Elsie Sue Lail Webster passed peacefully on Friday, June 22, 2018, at her home in Acworth, Georgia at the age of 85.
Sue is survived by Pierce Webster; husband, Jack & Gaye Lail and Dennie & Rebecca Lail; siblings, Barry Reel and Theresa and David Palmer; children, Christina and John Arnold, Janet and Brit Andrews, and Jacqueline Reel; grandchildren, Westin, Hudson and Kinsley Arnold, and Evan Andrews; great-grandchildren, Denise Maulucci; beloved friend and caregiver. She is preceded in death by Ruth Keller; sibling, Debbie Reel; daughter.
Sue was born on November 5, 1932, in Hickory, North Carolina to Oliver and Christine Lail. She graduated as the Class Salutatorian from St. Stephens High School in Hickory in 1951. Upon graduating high school, Sue joined and served in the Air Force for three and a half years. Sue graduated among the first graduating class of women at Clemson University in 1957. After graduating college, she and her family moved to Cobb County where she then began teaching in the Cobb County School System for 32 years. Sue was married to Pierce Webster on August 9, 1968. The last few years of her teaching career, Sue went back to school to get her masters in teaching special needs students. She was an active member at Heritage Presbyterian Church for over 40 years and after retirement, Sue enjoyed volunteering with the Kennestone Volunteer group and taking part in ceramics.
A memorial service is scheduled for 3 p.m. Saturday, June 30, 2018, at Heritage Presbyterian Church. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Sue's life.
