Tammy Jean Alexander arrived to this world on February 6, 1958 in Atlanta, GA. Some of her earliest memories were of the time she spent living with her family in Germany, where she enjoyed horseback riding through tranquil forests and savoring raspberry-flavored sweets from street carts.

Quick to offer affection and companionship, Tammy was a light in every room and made friends (with animals and people, alike) everywhere she went. She shared her warmth, thoughtfulness, enthusiasm, authenticity, sensitivity, and humor with countless other souls throughout her life. From the attendant at every gas station she ever frequented, to every cat, dog, raccoon, parakeet, rabbit, or horse she ever welcomed into her care… from every “regular” who visited with her at work, to her parents, her children, and everyone she knew in her heart to be Family… from every friendship and romance she kindled, to every moment she spent in solitary prayer—Tammy truly loved and was loved. 

She faced more than her fair share of hardships over the years, but fought and forged ahead with hope on her side. Even in her final days, her body weak and her mind exhausted, she daydreamed of baking fruit cobblers to share with her caretakers. Tammy passed away peacefully, cozy in her bed, at the Our Lady of Perpetual Help Home on the morning of September 27, 2024. Her spirited storytelling, joking, impromptu singing, playful expression, and genuine compassion will be sorely missed.

Tammy joins her mother Agnes, her father JB, and her three sisters, Brenda, Barbara, and Mary in Heaven. She is survived by her two daughters, Taylor and Ryan, and her granddaughter Maddison.
