Thelma Blackmon

Thelma Blackmon passed away Friday, June 18th, 2021, at her residence surrounded by her loved ones. She was at the young age of 77. Thelma was born 11/30/1943 in Cartersville, GA, to the late Paul and Lois Stephens. She is preceded in death by her loving husband David Blackmon of 48 years as well as two siblings John Lee and James Stephens.

She is survived by her daughters, Kimberly Blackmon and April Castillo. Two siblings Esther Womack and Lester Stephens (June). Her grandchildren; Tabitha Turner (Jose) Krystal Wood (Joseph), Stormie Hood (Jordon), Matthew Hicks (Jennifer), Chassity Sanson (Taylor), and Zeke Castillo. She was also blessed to see her several great-grandchildren be brought into the world and grow as well as several nieces and nephews.

After retirement from Bell South, Thelma ran a paper route for many years for the Tribune. She spent many late nights on the road to make sure her customers received their newspapers on time and enjoyed speaking to anyone that came in her presence. She loved telling stories and acting silly. Her laugh was infectious and contagious. She loved listening to country music on the radio and singing along.

She was a member of Bread Of Life Christian Center for many years and loved to be in attendance whenever she could. She loved nothing more than serving her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She spent most of her days watching Christian shows on tv and worshipping whenever possible.

A viewing will be held at the Bread Of Life on Friday, July 2nd, 2021 at 1 pm followed by the funeral service at 3 pm. Officiated by Pastor Max Maybern and Rev. Mark Stephens. Interment will follow in Sunset Memory Gardens.

Serving as pallbearers will be Zeke Castillo, Matthew Hicks, Joshua Renfro, David Renfro, Joseph Wood.
