Thomas Alden Chambers Sr. died at home on March 4, 2019 of natural causes. He was 84 years old. Mr. Chambers was born April 19, 1934 in Pratt Kansas to parents Herman and Gladys Chambers. After graduating high school he entered college after his first year he was inducted into the U.S. Army were he was promoted to the rank of Specialist Third Class (SP3) where he performed duties as Aviation Inspector and Mechanic on the Army’s then new Rotor Wing (Helicopter) aircraft. He was stationed in Alaska. He separated from the U.S. Army at Presidio of San Francisco California on Jan 27 1956. After a brief stint with Boeing Aircraft Mfg. he reentered college and subsequently graduated from Kansas State University with a degree in Civil Engineering (PE). He married Marilynn Christ on April 21, 1955. After a long career with the Veterans Administration he retired from the position of National Director of Resident Engineers Washington DC. After retirement he and his wife relocated to Spring City, Tennessee where he built a home on the Watts Bar Lake. There he enjoyed fishing, boating, camping and spending time with his wife, children and grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father, mother and brother Ray Chambers. He is survived by his wife Marilynn, sisters Linda Waugh and Patsy Stein. Children: Terri Chambers Cavender and husband, Sheri Chambers, Melissa Chambers Rodden and her husband, and Thomas A. Chambers Jr. Ten Grandchildren and Nine Great Grandchildren and various nieces and nephews survive. He will be laid to rest at the National Military Cemetery in Chattanooga Tennessee on Monday March 11th at 1:30pm.
