Wallace Cordell Smith, 83, of Acworth, Georgia, passed away on Thursday, September 15, 2022, at home. Wallace was born on September 5, 1939, to Otto and Collie Smith in McMinnville, Tennessee. Wallace was very active in his church, Cartersville Church of Christ. He previously served as a deacon and on numerous church committees. Wallace was the best at welcoming everyone at church with the biggest smile and hug. He was well known for giving candy and toys to the children every Sunday after church. He was so glad to love and be loved by his church family.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 55 years, Dean; his sons Don(and wife Michelle), and Darryl(and wife Jill), his daughter Pam(and husband Jonathan) and one sister, Gladys Clendenon. He was Pops to eight grandchildren; Ashley, Lindsey, Haley, Jake, Will, Kayla, Kinsey, and Madison. He was Poppy to five great-grandchildren; Kyleigh, Caden, Maddox, Cash, and Presley. He was so very proud of all his family.
As a veteran, Wallace served in the United States Army in Germany and the U.S. He will be buried with military honors. He was a small business owner with businesses in Tennessee and Georgia. His passion in retirement was serving his church and spending time with his children and grandchildren, fishing, and gardening trees, flowers, and vegetables.
Wallace was proceeded in death by his parents, Otto and Collie Smith, and five brothers; Gene, James, Myrl, Carl, and Paul.
The celebration of life will be held Friday, October 28, 2022; at 2:00 pm, at Cartersville, Church of Christ, 1319 Joe Frank Harris Pkwy, Cartersville, GA 30120. Donations are encouraged to Cartersville Church of Christ. A private burial will be held at a later date.
