William "Bill" H. Lunsford, 79, a longtime resident of Marietta, GA, passed away Monday, February 1, 2021. He was born June 13, 1941 in Cincinnati, OH.
He proudly served four years in the U.S. Navy assigned to the USS Coral Sea, followed by earning a BA in Political Science at the University of California at Dominguez Hills. He spent most of his working career as a road driver for Yellow Freight. As a Teamster, he advocated for safe working conditions and fair pay.
Bill was an avid watcher of the news, and he enjoyed watching professional baseball and football. He was always cutting up making jokes, and he was a kind man that never hesitated to help those in need.
Bill was a 33rd degree Mason with Masonic Lodge #447 and was a member at Yaarab Shrine Temple in Atlanta.
He is survived by four children: Brian Lunsford of Maui, HI; Michael Glaze of Woodstock, GA; Freda Lunsford of Marietta, GA; and Joshua Lunsford of Indianapolis, IN; four grandchildren: Samantha, Emilie, Kerri, and Nathaniel; and four great-grandchildren: Kyliee, Charlie, Skylar, and Landon.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Shannon Lunsford.
The family would like to thank the staff of Tranquility at Kennesaw Mountain in Marietta for the wonderful care and comfort provided for their loved one during his brief stay.
Funeral arrangements are being handled by Georgia Funeral Care and Cremation Services in Acworth, GA. His memorial service will be held at Georgia Funeral Care on Saturday, February 13th at 2pm. A private Interment service will occur Monday, February 15th at Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, GA.
