William David Hoffer, 37, of Gainesville, GA died Sunday, June 13, 2021. He had just returned from an incredible 2-week family vacation to the Grand Canyon, Bryce, and Zion National Parks with his wife, 3 children, parents, and brother’s family.
He was a graduate of Oglethorpe University and Liberty University Law School. He was a Public Defender for Hall County, was passionate about being an advocate for the underdog, and won 10 out of his last 12 cases. He was an intensely avid reader and booklover with broad tastes and interests. He loved to critique and analyze films and was a connoisseur of all types of music. You could often find him hiking, camping, or creatively discovering new places to explore. He was the beloved 2nd oldest of 5 sons. We were all beneficiaries of his kind and gentle spirit, calming presence and witty sense of humor.
He is survived by his wife, Karen, his son Henry, his daughter, Sylvie, his step-son, Lincoln, along with his parents, Cathy and Craig Hoffer, 4 brothers, 6 sisters-in-law, 1 brother-in-law, and 7 nieces and nephews.
A private family burial was held on Thursday, June 17th. A Memorial Service was held at the Amphitheater at Rock Creek Veterans Park at 223 Northside Drive in Gainesville, GA at 12:30pm, followed by lunch at First Baptist Church, Gainesville, GA at 1:30pm as well as visitation with the family.
