William Edward Burckhardt Pappert Jr passed away on Sunday, July 28, at the age of 78. Bill or Pepper as he was commonly referred to was born in Dumont, NJ, a son of the late William and Maria (Losert) Pappert. William served his country in the United States Air Force as an airline mechanic until he had a medical complication forcing him to retire from the military. During his time with the military he was able to travel the world, spending a lot of time in Europe. Bill’s love of all things mechanical stayed with him throughout his life as he ended up finding his calling in many different areas. He was a motorcycle Dade County patrolman for many years when he lived in Florida. When he moved to Georgia in the 70’s, he met and married his wife of 40 years, Donna Lynn (Farley) Pappert and they settled down in Powder Springs. He worked with automobiles and computers (all things mechanical) in different aspects until he retired. He was a dirt track race car driver in the 70’s and is listed in the Georgia Racing Hall Of Fame. He even co-hosted a radio show about cars in the 90’s. Even after retiring, he found himself needing to return to work and he worked part time at the part store to continue to see people and help with mechanical issues. Bill loved a good deal more than anything. He would love to shop sales, find the hidden treasure at a yard sale or to find that piece at the goodwill he could bring life back to. Bill was an avid gun collector and coin collector and took pride in his collection of both. He was a lover of all animals. He was the father to Stefanie Lynn (Pappert) Wilder of Hiram, GA and Charlene (Pappert) Keifer of Alta Monte Springs, Fla and a grandfather to Steven Lloyd Wilder III and William Wilder and to Brandy Keifer. He was the brother to Maria (Pappert) Peckham.
There will be no funeral service at this time but there will be a celebration of life ceremony in the weeks to come for William and Donna Pappert. Contact the family for arrangements.
