"Lela" Yong Johnson passed away peacefully on December 28, 2022 surrounded by her family. She was born on October 18, 1938 in Seoul, South Korea, the third daughter of Byung Tae Lim and Bong Nam Kim.
She married Clifford Johnson on November 14, 1961 at the American Embassy in Seoul, South Korea. Clifford was a helicopter pilot in the Army.
She is predeceased by her parents, her husband of 7 years who was killed in action during the Vietnam War and her only son, Gary Curtis Johnson. She is survived by her daughter, Vonda (Johnson) Kudron; her daughter Linda Johnson and her dog Biscuit; her grandson Clifford, his wife Madison and their son Henry; her granddaughter Alexandra and her husband Benjamin; her grandson Christian; her granddaughter Jessica, her husband Jacob and their daughter Emma; and her granddaughter Cassandra, all who made up the entirety of her world:
She was not only a beloved mother, grandmother and great grandmother, she was a real estate investor, a restaurateur, an accomplished ballroom dancer, a painter and a multilinguist (fluent in English, Korean, Japanese and Chinese).
The service will be held at County Line United Methodist Church on Wednesday, January 4, 2022 at 3:00 pm. A reception will follow.
